Why I write Notes From France
My Sunday supplement
When I teach founders, freelancers, small business owners — basically ANYONE who wants to raise their profile — how to Hype Themselves. I have a key ingredient. What are your horoscope or recipe pages?
Wondering what the heck I’m talking about?
Ok, stay with me.
Imagine you are a magazine. You have business news, features and trends your industry or your product or service can be part of, the imagery you select, the illustrators, graphic design partners or branding assets you select to represent yourself, who you partner with, the sort of clients you have.
All of this gives you a brand personality and a sense to your audience of who you are and what are you about.
But selling our business all the time is boring for us and those around us.
I like to do what I call ‘sharing a bit of ankle’.
It’s just giving us a glimpse of who you are.
I don’t really talk about my family (beyond my husband who is my co-worker), show what my house looks likes, where I go on holiday, the highest highs or the lowest lows. I don’t even really share my background origin story.
But I do like to give a glimpse. And when I do, a little bit of magic happens.
